Practice Areas:

Andrew Frieze's practice focuses in two principal areas - working with closely-held businesses and assisting individuals with gift and estate planning. He often works with business owners for whom their business interest is their largest asset.

The business planning aspect of Andrew's practice involves helping clients develop plans for the growth of their business, including the structure of the business entity, tax issues, agreements among owners, strategic agreements, and mergers and acquisitions. He also frequently advises clients on the disposition of their interest in a business - whether transitioning to another generation, selling to a partner or third party, or other exit strategy.

Andrew's gift and estate planning practice involves helping clients develop and implement tax efficient strategies for the management and transfer of their wealth, including estate and gift tax planning, and the drafting of Wills, Revocable and Irrevocable Trusts of all types.

Andrew is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Suffolk University Law School where he teaches a course entitled Advising Closely Held Business Organizations and their Principals. He also serves as a member of the Newton-Wellesley Hospital Human Research and Investigation Committee, the institutional review board responsible for the protection of persons participating in medical research conducted at that hospital.

Andrew received a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst (1972), a J.D. degree from Boston College Law School (1975), and an LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law (1976). He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar and admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts; U.S. Court of Appeals, First Circuit; U.S. Tax Court; U.S. Court of Claims; and U.S. Supreme Court.
